When I stepped into leadership at EasyLiving, I brought with me a vision to create something more than just a home care company. I wanted to build a high-touch, high-care environment—one where families feel heard, caregivers feel supported, and seniors can truly age wisely. But achieving that meant doing one thing really well: bridging the gap between leadership and frontline caregivers.
Recently, I had the opportunity to share that journey on the Home Care Strategy Lab podcast. The episode dives into how we’ve grown EasyLiving by building a culture that’s just as focused on caregivers as it is on clients. Here are a few highlights from that conversation:
1. Care is Local, Leadership Should Be Too
As a CEO, it’s easy to sit behind a desk. But in home care, leadership has to show up—literally. I make it a point to speak with clients, shadow caregivers, and have direct conversations with our team in the field. It’s not just about optics—it’s about truly understanding what’s working and where we need to do better.
2. Structure Brings Freedom
One of the best decisions we made was implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). This gave us clear roles, meeting rhythms, and accountability at every level. When everyone knows the goal, the team can move faster—and with more purpose.
3. Your Best Recruiter is Great Care
Clients refer us. Hospitals trust us. But it all starts with caregivers doing meaningful work and feeling appreciated for it. We invest in training, support, and career pathways for our staff. And when things go wrong, we listen and fix it. That’s how you retain talent in a tough industry.
4. It’s About the Journey, Not Just the Shift
At EasyLiving, we don’t just provide hours—we provide a care journey. From aging in place to managing chronic conditions, our team is there through the ups and downs. And as I shared on the podcast, that requires more than scheduling—it requires leadership with heart.
