24-Hour Home Care
Some households need more than a morning visit. If your parent cannot be left alone overnight, if Parkinson’s or dementia makes 3 a.m. restless, or if a spouse is sleeping in a chair because they are afraid to close their eyes, 24-hour home care is the conversation to have. EasyLiving Care Partners provide around-the-clock support in the home so the person you love stays in a familiar bed — and so the family can actually rest.
Around-the-clock care is different from our office being available for emergencies. EasyLiving can take those after-hours calls, but 24-hour home care means a Care Partner is physically present, shift after shift, following a plan. Nurse oversight helps us watch for changes that show up at night just as often as they do at noon.
Who 24-hour home care is for
Families across Tampa Bay ask for this level of care when the risks no longer fit into a few daytime hours. Typical situations include:
- A person who is not safe alone at night — wandering, falls, or confusion
- Advanced dementia, frailty, or end-of-life care at home
- A recent hospital or rehab discharge that still needs day-and-night help
- A spouse who has become a round-the-clock caregiver and is worn down
- Transfer help that is needed both getting up and going to bed
You do not have to start at 24 hours. Many families begin with evenings or overnight coverage and expand. Others know from the first assessment that full coverage is the only safe plan. We will say so plainly.
What’s included
A 24-hour plan is still home care: personal care, meals, medication reminders, mobility, companionship, and a calm household. Coverage is arranged in shifts so Care Partners stay alert. What “included” looks like in a given home depends on the assessment, but families often need:
- Help with bathing, dressing, toileting, and changing positions
- Overnight presence — hearing a fall risk, redirecting confusion, assisting to the bathroom
- Meals, snacks, and hydration on a schedule that matches medications
- Light housekeeping so the home stays livable when family cannot do it all
- Companionship during long days, not only task-based visits
- Notes and handoffs so the next Care Partner knows what changed
If personal care is the core need, see personal care. If memory is the driver, see dementia care. After a hospital stay, hospital-to-home support can be the first chapter of a 24-hour plan. When a family caregiver needs a defined break rather than full-time coverage, respite care may be the better fit.
We do not invent a private-duty nursing service on this page. If skilled nursing tasks belong in the plan — wound care, IV therapy, and similar work — that lives with our licensed skilled nursing team. Home care Care Partners work under nurse oversight and a clear scope.
How EasyLiving starts care
- Tell us what nights look like. Schedule a Consultation. Overnight risk is easy to under-describe on a form; we want the real picture.
- Assessment. We review safety, transfers, cognition, and how much family can still do. The goal is the right number of hours, not the maximum invoice.
- Match and coverage plan. We match Care Partners, set shifts, and keep supervision in place. Backup coverage is part of running a licensed agency — not an afterthought.
When to call
Call if you are afraid to leave overnight, if there has already been a nighttime fall, or if the primary caregiver is getting sick from lack of sleep. Call before you try to “just get through one more week” on coffee. Around-the-clock care is easier to start as a plan than as an emergency.
If you are not sure whether you need 24 hours or a shorter block, say that. The assessment is designed to answer it.
FAQ
Is 24-hour care the same as live-in care?
Not always. Live-in schedules and shift-based 24-hour coverage are different models. What we recommend depends on how much hands-on help is needed at night and whether a Care Partner can reasonably sleep in the home. We will explain the difference during the assessment rather than force one label.
Can we start with nights only?
Often, yes. Many families cover evenings and overnight first, then add daytime hours. The plan should match the risk, including weekends.
