Dementia Care at Home
When memory changes, families in Tampa Bay often feel two things at once: love for the person they still know, and worry about what happens when no one is in the room. EasyLiving dementia home care is built for that moment. Our Care Partners help with daily routines, safety, and companionship so your loved one can stay in familiar surroundings — and so you are not carrying every hour of the day alone.
We have supported older adults and families since 1998. Care Partners receive Alzheimer’s and related dementias training, Level 2 FBI background checks, and ongoing supervision. Nurse oversight is part of how we keep the plan current as needs change. This is licensed home care, not a facility, and it is different from our separate care management service, which can coordinate doctors, benefits, and the bigger picture.
Who dementia home care is for
Families usually call when a parent with Alzheimer’s or another dementia is still at home, but the day is getting harder to manage. You might notice missed medications, a stove left on, sundowning in the evening, or a fall after a restless night. Adult children who live nearby — or who fly in from out of town — often want a consistent person in the home, not a rotating cast of strangers.
This service fits when:
- Memory loss is affecting bathing, meals, or medication routines
- Wandering, agitation, or nighttime restlessness is raising safety concerns
- A spouse is exhausted from being the only caregiver
- You want help at home before considering a memory-care move
- Discharge from a hospital or rehab has made confusion worse
You do not need a perfect diagnosis on day one. If the home no longer feels safe, that is enough reason to talk with us.
What’s included
Every plan is personal. Dementia care at home is not a one-size checklist. After the assessment, Care Partners typically help with:
- Personal care — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, with patience for a slower pace
- Meals, hydration, and medication reminders
- Safe mobility, transfers, and fall-risk awareness in a familiar house
- Companionship that follows the person’s history, music, and daily rhythm
- Redirection during agitation, and calmer evening routines
- Light housekeeping and a watchful eye on hazards
- Transportation to appointments when it is part of the plan
- Updates so family members know how the day actually went
Hours can be a few visits a week, daily support, or 24-hour home care when nights are the hard part. Many families also add respite care so a spouse can sleep, see a doctor, or simply leave the house without panic.
EasyLiving is an approved Medicare GUIDE program provider. Eligible families on Traditional Medicare may receive extra dementia care navigation, education, and respite support alongside home care. Ask us whether a screening makes sense.
How EasyLiving starts care
- Request a visit. Schedule a Consultation or call your local office. Tell us what you are seeing at home — we will not make you fill out a perfect medical history first.
- At-risk assessment. Senior care experts and nurses look at daily routines, cognition, fall risk, and what family members can realistically keep doing.
- A matched Care Partner. We match skills and availability, then start with a written plan. Supervision continues after care begins so the schedule can change when the disease does.
If the family also needs someone to talk with physicians, sort benefits, or think through living options, we will introduce care management as a separate, optional service.
When to call
Call sooner rather than later if your loved one is getting lost in familiar places, repeating questions in a way that derails the day, refusing baths, or waking you every night. Call after a hospital stay if confusion spiked. Call if you are the only person holding the household together and you can feel yourself running out of margin.
A planned start — even a few hours — is easier than scrambling after a crisis.
FAQ
Is dementia home care the same as a memory-care facility?
No. Care happens in the person’s own home, with a Care Partner following a plan built around their routines. Some families use home care for years. Others use it while they decide whether a move is needed. We will not push a facility if the home is still the right place.
Do Care Partners have dementia-specific training?
Yes. EasyLiving Care Partners are Alzheimer’s and related dementias trained, in addition to meeting Florida home health aide / CNA requirements and Level 2 FBI background checks. Plans are supervised, and we adjust as symptoms change.
Can you help if we also need coordination with doctors?
Hands-on dementia home care is provided by Care Partners. If you want a professional to coordinate physicians, medications, and family decisions, that is our care management team — a separate service many dementia families use together with home care.
