Are you experiencing possible symptoms of coronavirus and want to get COVID-19 testing done? Here is some information about drive-through COVID-19 testing in Tampa Bay. Please read carefully and follow the instructions, to help ensure testing is available for those who need it.
Starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, BayCare is converting seven of its Urgent Care centers into drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites for patients who meet PUI criteria.
Public interest in this testing is very high, but testing capacity remains quite limited. To make sure COVID-19 testing is available for those with the highest need, please contact your healthcare provider or Department of Health to discuss whether you meet the screening requirements to be referred for testing. This is the guidance being given to healthcare providers:
- Follow the current screening requirements for COVID-19 testing as laid out by the Florida Department of Health. The latest guidance matrix is here or can be found at floridahealth.gov.
- Only patients who have met the FDOH screening requirements should be referred for testing to the BayCare Drive-Thru Testing Sites. Addresses, as well as hours for service, are below or can be found at BayCareUrgentCare.org.
At each testing location, BayCare will set up stations that patients who meet PUI criteria will quickly move through while remaining in their cars. BayCare team members, where appropriate, will have personal protection equipment to ensure safety for patients, team members, physicians and the community.
Patients will be called with results, which take anywhere from two to five days. Positive results will be forwarded to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation and shared with the FDOH, per state law.
