This month marks the debut of EasyLiving’s Inspirational Caregiver Award program. This award is part of EasyLiving’s iCaRewards program and is designed to spotlight the great work of our caregivers. It is an additional way we can reward and thank our top quality home caregivers.
To be selected as a finalist for this award, the caregivers must demonstrate a good work ethic, compassion and high quality caregiving skills including great communication. This month EasyLiving had five great finalists competing for the award and we’d like to express a big congratulations to them all! The Inspirational Caregiver finalists are: Sequoia Copeland, DeAngela Holloway, Donna LaGrande, Janet Scali and John Verel.
Donna LaGrand has been chosen as April’s Inspirational Caregiver of the Month. Donna has worked with EasyLiving since 2006. She has an excellent work ethic. As Donna states, “I always give 100% and do the best job I can, with no exceptions or excuses”. Donna is the type of hard working caregiver who quietly sets an example for her team members with her contributions and dedication.
The daughter of one of Donna’s clients shares, “Donna is very kind and respectful towards my mother. She is extremely attentive to her needs. What’s special about Donna is that she tries to make my mother have a great day, every day she is there, and that is not an easy task. We appreciate her and like her very much.” Donna obviously rises to the challenge of caring for this client who has advanced dementia, with compassion and kindness.
Donna feels it is rewarding to be able to make a difference to clients and to see how important you become to them. Clearly, all the little things she does to make every day a great day for the client are having an impact. Donna appreciates the chance to get to know clients and their families and become an integral part of their lives.
Another special characteristic that Donna brings to her work is a great sense of humor. She believes laughter can be the best medicine and often brightens a client’s day with a good laugh.
